Specimen Requirement

0.5 mL Lithium Heparin plasma; only PST acceptable.

Tests performed on a fingerstick or heelstick specimen (capillary) will be noted as such.

Venous or arterial collection is the specimen of choice.

Samples should be tightly capped to prevent decreased CO2 levels.

Lithium Heparin 2 hours at 20-25° C

Lithium Heparin: 2 days at 2-8° C
