Specimen Requirement
Serum; minimum 5.0 mL SST tube. Specimen must remain anaerobic.
Newborns on-site (Grand Forks): May be collected in a microtainer SST tube. Heelstick is acceptable. Transport immediately to the laboratory.
Referring lab: Allow specimen to clot for 30 minutes. Centrifuge for 10 minutes. Keep specimen anaerobic.
