Important Note

Reflex HPV testing if "ASCUS" result:

If you want HPV reflex testing, answer "YES" to the reflex question

If you do not want HPV reflex testing, answer "NO" to the reflex question.

Cervical, Endocervical, Vaginal Thinprep

Specimen Requirement

Cervical, Endocervical, Vaginal:

Collect cervical specimens in ThinPrep Pap Test vials containing PreservCyt Solution with a broom-type or cytobrush/ spatula collection devices according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

 

NOTE: To prevent specimen loss, tighten the cap on the vial so that the torque line on the cap passes the torque line on the vial.

   

Testing Schedule

PAP tests performed daily, Monday-Friday.

HPV screen nucleic acid test is performed twice weekly.

HPV genotyping testing is performed once per week (automatic reflex from a positive screen).

Reference Range

PAP test: negative for intraepithelial lesion or malignancy.

HPV nucleic acid test: high risk HPV not detected.

Additional Information

The reflex HPV assay detects nucleic acid from 14 high-risk HPV types (16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66, 68). A positive screen will reflex to the genotyping test for HPV 16, 18/45.
