Important Note

Microscopy performed automatically if any of the following are positive:  leukocytes, blood, nitrite, protein

Specimen Requirement

10.0 mL urine.

Specimen Stability

2 hours at 20-25° C 

8 hours at 2-8° C

If sample will not arrive at the performing lab within 8 hours of collection, urine needs to be aliquotted into a red and yellow preservative tube, and sent to the performing lab refrigerated.

Negative for: Leukocytes, Nitrite, Protein, Blood, Ketone, Bilirubin, Glucose

pH:  5.0 – 8.0

Urobilinogen:  0.2 – 1.0 mg/dL

Specific Gravity:  1.003 – 1.035
