Test Code LAB318 Platelet Function

Important Note

It is preferable that the patient be drawn at a Grand Forks location, due to time sensitivity of the specimen.

Specimen Requirement

Two 2.7 mL Sodium Citrate (blue-top) tubes

  • Preferred collection with vacutainer system using 21g needle or larger.
  • Referring Labs: Samples must be accompanied by an EDTA sample or results of hematocrit and
    platelet testing less than or equal to 24 hours old.

Specimen Stability

Specimen must be stored at room temperature, tested within four hours of collection, and NOT centrifuged.

Col / EPI 82 – 150

Col / ADP 62 – 118

 

ADP is performed only when EPI is > 150.
