Specimen Requirement
Body fluid (thoracentesis, pleural, peritoneal, pericardial, etc) Do not centrifuge.
Specimen Stability
Keep specimen as anaerobic as possible, measure pH without delay.
Keep specimen on ice or refrigerate if delay is greater than one hour.
