Specimen Requirements

Cutaneous or mucocutaneous swab: open Aptima Multitest collection kit (orange label); use the pink-shaft swab to swab herpetic cutaneous or mucocutaneous anogenital lesion; place swab in Multitest transport tube.

Transport specimen at room temperature or refrigerated, 2-30oC. Specimen can be stored at 2-30oC for 36 days or frozen -70oC to -20oC for up to 36 days.
